KUALA LUMPUR: A married Singaporean actor was caught in close proximity (khalwat) with a Malaysian actress partner at a luxury condominium early this morning.
The arrest, carried out by the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) based on public information, occurred at the actress's residence.
The couple, currently busy filming a drama, was found together when enforcement officers arrived, suspecting them of being in close proximity.
"It is understood that the male actor has been seen entering the house of the female actress several times," a source told Harian Metro.
The male actor, previously divorced but reconciled with his wife, has faced controversy for alleged infidelity. The female actress, also the sister of a celebrity, has been linked to several male artists in the past.
Earlier, Jawi officers had to enlist the assistance of the Fire and Rescue Department when the actor and actress refused to open the door to the unit.
It is understood that the actor relented only after the fire department threatened to force entry, following nearly three hours of Jawi enforcement personnel being outside the actress's residence.
The operation started around 10.30pm last night, with the Jawi enforcement team arriving in two vans.
Subsequently, the couple was transported to the Jawi office in another vehicle for further processing.
