KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Zarina Zainuddin, who was once known as an artiste with a sexy image, had been banned from appearing on RTM.
Zarina said that the period had a drastic impact on her as she could not earn an income from acting.
"I was stuck for two years. I didn't have any acting jobs at all with RTM, but that was part of my journey in life.
"It's sad when you get banned because acting is your rice bowl.
"I was already very used to 'shooting', even though I was doing my own business. I still wanted to carry on with acting. I felt sad when people didn't give me the opportunity to act.
"But, I went through a phase of self-reflection, I went back and forth to RTM to appeal and so on. It took a long time before I got the green light to return to acting," she said in a news report today.
Zarina added that she had to undergo that period of introspection and believes that every experience offers lessons and a chance to gain wisdom.
"In life, if you are tested, it is a sign of God's love. From that test, I realised what was right and what was wrong, and that I needed to set some limits.
"Like what has happened to Ruhainies and Aliff Aziz recently, there'll be lessons for them to learn and wisdom to attain.
"For me, don't ban them directly, have pity. They also want to earn a living.
"We don't know what had exactly happened since we were not physically there at the time. We can't just simply accuse them of doing bad things," she said.
Zarina also hopes that TV stations and producers will not blacklist any artiste continuously for a long time.
Previously, Zarina was embroiled in a hot case from 1992 when a nude photo of the actress was not only published in a tabloid newspaper but also began circulating throughout the country.
