KUALA LUMPUR: Hong Kong actor Chun Wong has opened up about his financial difficulties following the expiration of his contract with Hong Kong Television Broadcasts (TVB).
In a recent interview with HK01, Wong said that he had to apply for the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) scheme to cover medical fees and basic needs.
His financial difficulties got worse after he spent over HK$3 million (RM1.8 million) selling his property to help his daughter pay off her debts.
"I helped her pay over HK$10,000 (RM6,025) per month over 10 years," said the 76-year-old actor.
Wong's eldest daughter "disappeared" after declaring bankruptcy. His three other children were unable to get in contact with her.
The Condor Heroes star said: "I helped her repay a hefty sum but was left with nothing in the end."
Wong has a strained relationship with his four children as well as his late wife Mo Peiwen.
Wong's relationship with them became strained after he had an affair with a woman 30 years his junior.
However, things have since improved as his three other children visit him today.
Mo, who died in 2017, filed for divorce six times, though Wong rejected each attempt.
The estranged couple had been living separately since then.
It has been reported that Wong moved to a nursing home after suffering a fall in March.
