#SHOWBIZ: 'Mum had to pawn her jewellery as I was jobless' — Haneesya Hanee

KUALA LUMPUR: Model and actress Haneesya Hanee has revealed that her mother Nor Sakuraneeda, 53, had to pawn her jewellery to make ends meet as she could not find job offers for some time.

Haneesya, 24, said in a news report yesterday that she did not get any job offers for a few months earlier this year and was "unable to put food on the table".

"After winning Popular New Female Artiste at Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian five years ago, and after the Covid-19 pandemic, acting offers became lesser and lesser. At times I only had one starring role in a month," she said.

Thanking her mother for sacrificing her jewellery to help her, Haneesya said that Nor Sakuraneeda told her not to fault herself for being unable to find acting jobs.

"Mum told me that jewellery is our emergency currency of sorts. It can be replaced once job offers become more abundant again," said Haneesya, who is currently starring in the TV3 drama series Aku Bukan Ustazah.
