LONG-RUNNING spiritual programme 'Tanyalah Uztaz' will air a special edition in conjunction with TV3's 40th anniversary themed 'Inspirasi Generasi' on June 8.
'Tanyalah Ustaz: Akad 40' will feature the 'nikah' (solemnisation ceremony) of 20 'asnaf' (poor and less fortunate) and 'muallaf' (converts) couples from various backgrounds that took place recently at the multipurpose hall in Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan in Kuala Lumpur.
The episode will see Tajdid Hadhari as the main host, Da'i Annas serving as the backstage host and Ahmad Fedtri Yahya taking on the wedding reception segment.
The reception was enlivened by special guests made up of family members and close friends, as well as Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar and Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) director Datuk Mohd Ajib Ismail.
The mass wedding was a TV3 initiative to help less fortunate couples tie the knot and start a family despite the challenges they face, such as the high cost of weddings.
Media Prima Bhd Television Network Islamic content department head and executive producer Ruzmi Kamaruddin said: "Planning and preparation for 'Tanyalah Ustaz: Akad 40' began at the beginning of the year as this was a special episode in conjunction with TV3's anniversary celebration.
"On behalf of TV3, we are very grateful to the sponsors and everyone involved in making this programme a success.
"We will continue to strive to broadcast programmes and events that are beneficial to the audience and the community."
Ruzmi added: "During this happy time, I also sympathise with the issues that are happening in Palestine.
"We also need to help according to our ability and TV3 has set up Media Prima's Palestine Humanitarian Fund for anyone who wants to donate," he said.
The public can make donations to the Media Prima Palestine Humanitarian Fund via Bank Muamalat (account 1401 0008 8447 15) or Maybank (5642 7651 0331).
SUPPORTING FAMILY DEVELOPMENT
The collaboration between TV3 and Jawi was approved by the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs).
"This is an excellent partnership between Media Prima Bhd and Jawi in highlighting the efforts in Islamic family empowerment in the Federal Territories, carried out through the preservation of the family line recommended by 'syarak' by the pronouncement of 'ijab' (words of proposal) and the legal acceptance of the marriage bond of husband and wife," said Na'im.
He said the programme was one of the efforts to encourage mercy and love in the community.
"The Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) will continue to play a role in supporting family development efforts to strengthen society."
