KUALA LUMPUR: The 36th edition of popular people's choice awards show Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian was launched yesterday, with this year's theme 'Teguh' which carries the message of unwavering unity and solidarity among Malaysians.
In a press statement released, the ABPBH 36 awards show which has been inspired by its main sponsor the beauty brand CONBOO, will be aired live on TV3, and will also be made available for streaming on the Tonton streaming platform.
Berita Harian's senior entertainment editor and ABPBH 36's director, Shamshul Azree Samsir, said that the awards show will continue to send out a positive message through its chosen theme.
"As the organiser, it's our duty to ensure the continuity of the show's legacy and its relevance with the times, by adapting and improving, as a show of support to the local entertainment industry," he said in the statement.
Sixteen main categories have been lined up this year, including four new ones, namely Popular Supporting Actor (Film), Popular Supporting Actress (Film), Popular Supporting Actor (TV), and Popular Supporting Actress (TV).
Voting via www.abpbh.com.my is open now until Sept 30.
There will also be five Extra! categories, namely Popular Couple (Drama), Popular Couple (Film), Popular and Most 'Boom' Song, Popular Antagonist in Drama Series, and Popular Sensational Artiste.
Voting for these five categories will be opened from Aug 29.
