KUALA LUMPUR: Aspiring singers can showcase their talents by participating in the CIMB Rising Start singing competition.
The inaugural talent search event, organised by CIMB Group Holdings Berhad, is open to all Malaysian citizens aged between 18 to 40 years.
Those interested can register for the audition via the CIMB Malaysia Instagram and TikTok accounts from now until June 30.
In support of the creative arts industry, CIMB Rising Start provides a platform not just for aspiring singers in Malaysia to showcase their talents, but also enables the winners from Malaysia to participate together with other talents from Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines at the regional finals to be held in Indonesia.
The regional finals will culminate in the long-running CIMB Kejar Mimpi concert held yearly in Indonesia which boasts a stellar lineup of artistes like Chakra Khan, Maudy Ayunda, and many others.
"We are delighted to launch CIMB Rising Start, our inaugural singing competition to discover young and aspiring talents in Malaysia and the region.
"CIMB Rising Start exemplifies our brand promise in 'Moving Forward with You', which embodies CIMB's brand values of championing the community as well as inspiring and empowering young talents in making their dreams happen," said CIMB Group group chief brand and marketing officer, Toni Darusman, in a recent statement.
He added: "We look forward to having the best and brightest from Malaysia sing their hearts out for a chance to perform at the final concert."
Among the judges for CIMB Rising Start are local music icon Hael Husaini and the winner of the CIMB Niaga Kejar Mimpi 2023 concert in Indonesia, Evelyn Wijaya.
Closed-door auditions will be held on July 14 to select two winners to represent Malaysia in the regional finals in Jakarta.
These winners from Malaysia will each receive a cash prize of RM5,000, one-on-one personal coaching with Hael Husaini, and a two-year talent deal with talent management company Rocketfuel Entertainment Sdn Bhd that includes one music single and one music video recording.
The two Malaysian winners will be announced on July 15 July 2024, while the announcement for the regional finals winners will be on July 31.
This will be followed by the CIMB Kejar Mimpi 2024 concert that will take place in Surakarta, Indonesia on Aug 24.
