#SHOWBIZ: Butterflies mark Tiara Andini's latest single

MUSIC lovers on both sides of the Malacca Straits have yet another treat from their favourite singer Tiara Andini of Indonesia.

Tiara, whose fans are known as Mootiaras, is back with 'Kupu-Kupu' having recently collaborated in a musical with Arsy Widianto.

In a recent statement, Tiara described 'Kupu-Kupu' as a song with a difference, as it dispenses with her usual K-pop-style beats.

"Instead of sounding K-popish, 'Kupu-Kupu' is rather retro, taking listeners back to the heyday of updos, bright-coloured dresses and pastel-coloured backgrounds of the 1980s," said Tiara.

"Better still, this is my first big collaboration with Laleilmanino, a group that is a major hit-maker in Indonesia today."

Laleilmanino serves as the writer, creator and producer of 'Kupu-Kupu', and the song is released under the record label Universal Music Indonesia, which has been Tiara's "umbrella" from the start.

"When I heard this song for the very first time, I immediately fell in love with it.

"The tones are very pleasant, its melody is very lively and that is vintage Laleilmanino.

"It is truly ear candy and best of all, it is a dream come true working with an amazing and iconic group of musicians," said Tiara.

'Kupu-Kupu' tells the story of two people who love each other, but are afraid of expressing their feelings.

Tiara said: "Many people in Indonesia and beyond encounter this. If you are in love, you are usually afraid to express your feelings, and in my honest opinion that is perfectly normal."

Tiara summarised 'Kupu-Kupu' as a cheerful, lively, fun and pleasant song about one's innermost feelings.

"It's a song about falling in love for the first time, and what goes on in a young lover's head and heart."

'Kupu-Kupu' has been highly anticipated by fans of Tiara.

Prior to its release the singer had "teased" them by uploading lots of butterfly images on social media.

A few months ago, she added lots of butterfly images to her Spotify Canvas, and similar images popped up on her Instagram account, giving Mootiaras a strong indication that she would be singing about the colourful insects.

Tiara said that the music video for her new song featured popular Indonesian comedian Dede Sunandar.

"I'm delighted to have Dede on board this video. He's a great entertainer who adds lots of colour, style and excitement to it."

Kupu-Kupu's music video is produced by AVSLZM Production, with Michael Budihardjo as the director.

"The concept of the music video is light and easy, with loads of colour. The backgrounds are vibrant, the costumes are dazzling and the dancers are cheerful and lively," said Tiara, adding that Dede and her back-up dancers had a great time filming the video over a day.

"Filming the music video was so much fun and having Dede on board has always been part of my bucket list."

Tiara says: "It is a song that gives you positive vibes. The song literally means 'butterflies' but on a deeper level it symbolises passion."

'Kupu-Kupu' is available on all major digital music platforms.

Its music video can be viewed on Tiara's official YouTube account.
