#SHOWBIZ: Composer Harun Ahmad passes away

KUALA LUMPUR: Composer, Harun Ahmad, who penned that popular song Jesnita for the pop rock band Exists, died at his residence in Skudai, Johor Baru, at about 5pm today.

This was confirmed by his nephew who is also a former Radio Era and Sinar FM presenter, Najman Mohamed.

"His wife came back from the shop and found him lying on the bed in a lifeless state. Yesterday was his 55th birthday.

"He's had a fever for a few days and may have some other illnesses," he said.

Najman said, Harun was the second last sibling of his late mother out of 13 siblings.

He is survived by his wife, Masnizah Mohyi, 50, and three children, namely Fatin Nurhaziqah, 26, Fatin Nurhidayah, 23, and Muhamad Farish Hakimi, 20.

During his lifetime, Harun was known as a very talented composer, who gained recognition through the song Jesnita.

Aside from that, Harun also created two more popular Exists songs, namely Langkah Seiringan and Janji Padamu.

Other songs he created are Hadirlah Mustika performed by Spin, Bicara Kasih (Elly Mazlein), Satu Kenangan (Kristal), Lafaz Cinta (Khai) and Alya Mysara (Mamat).

Meanwhile, Exists took to Facebook to express their sadness at Harun's passing.

"Brother Harun Bin Ahmad, the composer of songs such as Langkah Seiringan, Janji Padamu and Jesnita, has returned to Rahmatullah, this afternoon at Taman Teratai Skudai, Johor Bahru.

"Tomorrow his body will be buried in his hometown of Felda Ulu Tebrau, Ulu Tiram, Johor.

"Let's recite the Al Fatihah for the deceased. May his soul be among the righteous," they wrote.
