#SHOWBIZ: Composer Othman Mohamed dies at 65

KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran composer Othman Mohamed passed away last night at his home in Section 24, Shah Alam, due to asphyxiation. He was 65.

Othman's daughter, Izwana Othman, 36, shared that her father had been in good health until he developed a fever two days before his death.

"My father was active, still visiting the mosque regularly. While he wasn't as strong as others, he managed well.

"He had a normal fever recently and also suffered from asthma, but nothing serious before this," Izwana told Hairan Metro.

The composer, who was also the brother of the late Adam Ahmad, singer of the classic hit Kau Pergi Jua, lived alone but maintained close daily contact with his children.

"We visited him every day, shared meals, and spent time together.

"When we checked on him after Maghrib yesterday, we found him lifeless. CCTV footage showed he had a suffocation attack," Izwana added.

Othman's funeral prayers were held at Al-Ehsan Mosque in Section 24 before he was buried this morning at the Section 21 Islamic Cemetery.

During his career, Othman created timeless songs such as Kau Pergi Jua, Di Hari Persandingamu, Episod Cinta, and Hanya Di Radio, leaving a lasting legacy in the music industry.
