KUALA LUMPUR: Indonesian singer Afgan refuses to react to negative comments he received for hugging a South Korean rapper Jessi in the music video for his single 'Escape.'
Netizens claimed that both Afgan and Jessi looked overly intimate in the video released a month ago.
The 35-year-old, whose full name is Afgansyah Reza, said the hugging was to show the excitement of two friends on vacation.
"The action was just to deliver the energy in the song, which has a 'fun pop' concept.
"So the filming of the video was done in a joyous mood and we were filmed almost candidly absorbing the mood then.
"The video was supposed to show two friends enjoying themselves while on a holiday," he explained.
"So I do not need to pay attention to negative comments.
"As long as I know that the message I want to convey from the song is understood, that's all that matters," he told reporters when met at a press conference to announce the upcoming 'Ada Afgan & Lyodra: Live In Kuala Lumpur' concert held here yesterday.
The concert, during which he will share the stage with young singer Lyodra, is set to take place at Mega Star Arena Kuala Lumpur on Sept 28.
