SOCIAL media influencer Che Sayang Kitchen finds inspiration from his idol, Khairul Aming who is popular with culinary content and was named Creator Of The Year in the TikTok Malaysia Awards last year.
Che Sayang or Abdul Qayyum Halid emerged as the winner of the main category at the annual awards broadcast live on TV3 from Dewan Merdeka at the World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur in Jalan Putra recently.
Qayyum said Khairul's success motivated him to produce good cookery videos and his efforts paid off handsomely when he received a positive response from social media followers on TikTok.
"I have always looked up to Khairul Aming as my idol. I have watched every video of his and when he invests in something, I invest in the same thing too.
"What Khairul does, I do. I once told him, I find inspiration from him. I have learnt a lot from Khairul because he gives 200 per cent in everything he does.
"In the long term, I want to produce something that can contribute to society. I want to develop my own culinary content programme. I also want to come up with my own travelogues that explore Malaysia," he said in a recent interview .
Qayyum who defeated popular candidates, such as Sofyank, Ryan Bakery, Shi Qi, Daddy Hood and Sofea Shra, said he did not expect to win.
"Honestly, I didn't expect anything and suddenly my name was called. I couldn't believe it because it was impossible to surpass the hugely popular Ryan Bakery and Sofyank. But it really happened and I thank God for his blessings.
"Before this, I did a lot of business, but I was not successful. In 2023, I pushed myself to make a comeback and I am so happy that I have finally made it.
"That's why I upload videos almost every day," said Qayyum who is also a data engineer.
The Sitiawan-born lad said his success was the result of public support and his own hard work.
"I think it's impossible to achieve success in a flash, but when you work twice as hard as others, it can be achieved. Thank you to my family and followers who supported and voted for me every day.
"It's true when people say that if you can dream, you can achieve your dream provided that you work hard to achieve it and always think positively," he said.
