KUALA LUMPUR: Social media icon and entrepreneur Wak Doyok's recent claim that he suffered a loss of more than RM3 million as a result of his company's business partner's move is "not true".
WD Food Group's director of operations, Muhammad Hanif Omar, 29, said that his company rejected Wak Doyok's allegation that it would be paying damages to him.
In a Harian Metro report today, Hanif said that he never promised the amount claimed by Wak Doyok, and his company had paid him RM800,000 profit from their investment as a business partner.
"There is no agreement involving the RM3 million profit between WD Food Group and Wak Doyok.
"However, we have already paid a profit of RM800,000 to him.
"In fact, WD Food Group will return the investment amounting to RM300,000 that Wak Doyok invested and it will be done by November.
Hanif was met outside the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex today.
His lawyer Faiz Kamal Jaafar said that his client had also applied for an injunction against Wak Doyok and this will be heard in court on Sept 2.
"Before this, Wak Doyok made statements that affected the company's operations and the reputation of Hanif.
"Wak Doyok also disturbed the company's staff," he said, adding that Wak Doyok's contract with WD Food Group was for two years and will end in December.
In addition to filing a defamation suit, WD Food Group, which is a frozen food company, also submitted two other claims against Wak Doyok related to trademarks.
These will be mentioned in court next month.
Faiz said that the company tried to have a mediation process with Wak Doyok, but it was unsuccessful.
Earlier, Wak Doyok or Mohd Azwan Md Nor, 44, claimed that he had been cheated by his business partner.
