KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran rocker Rahmad Tohak of Mega has praised fellow "otai" artistes who make full use of social media to generate income.
In a news report yesterday, Rahmad, 55, said that making money via TikTok and other social media applications was a smart move because offers from music producers had become "uncertain" these days.
"Many corporations only invite 'trending' artistes to perform for their events nowadays. Consequently, it is better for veterans or 'otais' to take our own initiatives to make money," said Rahmad.
Rahmad also said that he was thankful to still receive invites from various event organisers, unlike many of his old friends.
"If I perform via TikTok, I only get RM200 to RM300 a month.
"But if I become a serious, almost full-time TikTok performer I can get as much as RM10,000," he said.
Rahmad will be performing at Konsert Telan Kaset 90an at Padang Timur, Petaling Jaya on Oct 12 and 13.
He will be joined by fellow veterans Zamani Slam, Hasnol, Fuad Rahman, Aris Ariwatan, Roy, Amir Ukays, Shidi Data, Isa Gravity, Wan, Febians, Shades, A To Z, Kool, Dinamik, Ady Wow and Kasawari.
