Singer Andi Bernadee is adamant about keeping his private life out of social media to avoid negative things from interfering with his life and personal well-being.
The 33-year-old artiste, whose real name is Andi Azrul Andi Mapangile, admits that this is why his current focus on social media is only about sharing details of his work.
"Many people already know what happened to me, why I was up and down. I have taken safety measures to only share and upload career-related information on social media platforms.
"Previously, my sharing even went to the extent of my privacy and I started attracting negative things. So, my current mindset is to only share stuff that's related to work.
"If you share too much about personal matters, I think it could lead to unwanted consequences," he said at a contract signing ceremony with recording company Universal Music Malaysia (UMM), according to Harian Metro.
The Kota Kinabalu-born talent confesses that there's no escaping the social media game nowadays since it is a necessity for artistes.
That said, he would like to maintain a strict image only as a singer online and might not be producing casual or random content like how he used to during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period.
"I'm not so active on social media since I'm not caught up with the latest trends. We now live in the age of influencers. People don't really follow the lifestyle of artistes, right?
"As a singer, I'll present myself online as one and not do the things (content) that I used to do previously. It's probably because I have matured and have to think of what's best for me.
"At the moment I am more comfortable as a singer and actor," he said.
Meanwhile, Andi is excited to be part of the UMM family as the decision to join the recording company represents a new beginning to further his artistic career.
"I think of this as the winds of change blowing. It's a new phase in my singing career. With UMM I can see the direction after this. I also want to focus on singing this year and will not be accepting any acting offers," he said.
