#SHOWBIZ: Anna Jobling staying true to Malaysia

AT 24, actress Anna Jobling remains deeply attached to Malaysia despite frequently working in Indonesia.

The rising star has no immediate plans to buy property in Jakarta.

"Malaysia is still my home. I don't want to go there and then leave Malaysia," she told 'Harian Metro'.

Anna, whose full name is Anna Ellisa Gustin Jobling, also revealed her careful approach to selecting acting projects.

"Before accepting an offer, I clarify what is and isn't suitable for me — be it scenes or certain requirements.

"If they agree, I'll proceed," she said.

Jobling was met recently at the 'Lembayung' movie premiere in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

She appreciates the understanding shown by Indonesian producers towards Malaysia's stricter industry standards.

"They respect me as a Malaysian actor, which I value greatly," Jobling said.

In the Indonesian horror movie directed by Baim Wong, Jobling has embraced challenging scenes to prove her versatility.

"I wanted to show I'm more than just a beautiful face.

"There's a scene where I asked the crew to tighten the noose around my neck to authentically portray the struggle.

"I wasn't afraid because the team ensured safety," she said.

The movie, which also stars Arya Saloka, Taskya Namya, Yasamin Jasem and Oka Antara, premiered in Indonesia in September and opened in Malaysian cinemas yesterday.
