#SHOWBIZ: Losing two toes is enough, says veteran singer Yazid Alias

KUALA LUMPUR: Vocalist of 1990s rock band Sejati, Yazid Alias is now in stable condition after receiving treatment from a specialist clinic in Slim River, Perak.

According to a Harian Metro report yesterday, the 58-year-old artiste was grateful that following the last check-up, the results showed positive development.

"Currently, I have to go to the clinic every day for treatment," said Yazid who is also trying a supplement sent to him by composer Saari Amri.

After having two of his toes on his left foot amputated when he was warded at Slim River in August, he was thankful that there was a chance for him to save the rest now.

"It's enough that I've already lost two, and I'll do my best to avoid losing more," said the artiste who now needs to spend about RM2,000 a week on medications.

He added that the doctors told him that he could recover in three months if he persistently continued the daily treatment.

Last month, Yazid who had long been diagnosed with diabetes and had been careful with his diet since, was warded for four days when his toes became infected after he accidentally got pricked by a minute thorn.

Apart from diabetes, he also suffers from hypertension, kidney problems, and high cholesterol.
