#SHOWBIZ: Award-winning Christopher Ling's 'Trilogi Bulan' explores power, destruction and humanity

KUALA LUMPUR: Boh Cameronian award-winning director Christopher Ling is back with an interesting Malay language trilogy of plays which opens on Thursday.

Taking place at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPAC), Sentul Park, Jalan Ipoh here, it is titled Trilogi Bulan (Moon Trilogy) and explores the themes of colonisation, power, ethics and humanity.

In a recent statement, Ling said that the plays were written by Yusof Bakar and comprised Orang Bulan, Penakluk Bulan and Pemusnah Bulan and were science-fiction stories set in the distant future.

"Each story delves into different aspects of humanity in space, exploring themes of power and destruction.

"The setting is when humans leave an Earth which has turned into 'hell' and started living on the Moon. But gradually human greed for power rears its ugly head once again," he said.

Ling added that Trilogi Bulan explored contemporary topics such as Resignation Syndrome, climate change and AI, and starred Nik Waheeda, Hazzy Alzeeq, Sunio Rushairi and Aidil Rosli.

"Trilogi Bulan is a thought-provoking sci-fi trilogy with universal themes.

"It focuses on relationships, family, and the consequences of our actions, and tells stories that transcend space and time."

Time: 8pm on Sept 12 and 15 and 2.30pm on Sept 14 and 15.

Tickets: RM50 and RM100.
