#SHOWBIZ: Irfan starstuck by 'Thalapathy' Vijay

ACTOR Irfan Zaini is over the moon for the opportunity to work with Indian film actor Thalapathy Vijay, or Vijay, in the recently released movie, 'The Greatest of All Time' (GOAT).

The 29-year-old artiste, whose full name is Muhammad Irfan Mohamed Zaini, said he had the chance to hang out with Vijay, 50, at the latter's invitation.

"I got the golden opportunity to get into the caravan (Vijay's), and sit and chat with him for an hour.

"We talked about everything in the world. The fact that he bought a new car, his movies and all that," Irfan said in a recent 'Harian Metro' report.

"I'm a die-hard fan and being able to sit in his caravan... that was really unexpected and mind-blowing. "At his level, he doesn't even need to pay attention to me but he was the opposite. He's like a diamond.

"That's what makes him a superstar, his humble attitude."

Although Irfan's role in 'GOAT' is small, he said it was a dream come true to share a scene with Vijay, whose full name is Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar.

The sci-fi action movie is directed by Venkat Prabhu.

"Actually, just seeing him from afar was enough. But thankfully, God had planned something much more beautiful. I got a scene that had dialogue with him.

"Even though our scene was only four minutes long, the experience was still hard to believe.

"I learned a lot from him. Despite his big name, he treated us equally, without pretense and was highly disciplined," he said.

Irfan admits that his work in 'GOAT' was something he had been waiting for all his life.

He never expected to get a call to travel to Russia for his role.

"This is too big an achievement for me," he beamed.

'GOAT' centres on Vijay's character Gandhi, a hostage negotiator, field agent and spy working for the Special Anti-Terrorist Squad.

After years of service, he is called back for a critical mission that sets him on a dangerous collision course with his past.

The movie, which also stars Prashanth Thyagarajan, Sneha, Prabhu Deva, Mohan and Jayaram, is currently screening in cinemas nationwide.
