KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Aweera hopes that former national Moto 3 and Cup Prix rider, Elly Idzlianizar Elias, 40, who died recently from severe slashing injuries will receive justice.
In an Instagram post yesterday, the 33-year-old artiste whose full name is Nasharul Aweera Norhissham wrote: "The person you slashed was my flesh and blood. I hope there is justice for Ijar (Elly)."
"May the perpetrators get the punishment they deserve! Takbir. Allahuakbar," he added.
In another post, the singer for the synth rock band Mojo requested for the public to "offer an Al-Fatihah" to his late cousin.
According to Harian Metro, Aweera did not want to comment on Elly's death when contacted.
"I apologise because at the moment, I am not ready to give a statement. The family is still grieving. I feel it would be better for the next of kin to issue a statement," he told Harian Metro, today.
Earlier, the police confirmed that Elly died due to severe injuries from being slashed following his involvement in a fight in Kangar, Perlis.
