KUALA LUMPUR: Popular actress, singer and radio presenter Elly Mazlein chooses to hide the faces of her two children with emojis in every photo she uploads to Instagram.
The 44-year-old artiste, whose real name is Sharifah Aida Mazlina Syed Hanafi, said she did this to give herself peace of mind.
"I choose to hide (my child's face on social media) for as long as I can. I hide by putting emojis for pictures on IG.
"But if I'm outside (with my family) I'm okay and the children don't have to wear masks or anything like that. People who come across us outside do stop by to talk and say that Sefhia has grown up.
"It's just that I don't share on social media because I feel it's better that way," she said in a Harian Metro report today.
Elly added that it was up to each parent to decide what's best for their children on social media.
"Every parent has their own way with their children (in terms of sharing on social media). For me, I would rather the children be behind the scenes.
"Because I want my children to grow up like other kids.
"Later, when Sefhia grows up, she can decide if she wants to have her own social media account such as IG, TikTok and so on," she said.
Elly added that her daughter understands after having a mature conversation with her on the pros and cons of the matter.
Elly tied the knot with teacher Muhammad Azlan Che Nuh, 34, on Jan 18, 2020 and they have a son, Haider Mateen, 3.
Previously, she was married to drama director, Azmi Hatta, from Nov 9, 2014 to Oct 15, 2015. They have a daughter, Putri Sara Sefhia, 8.
