#SHOWBIZ: Senario member Lan Pet Pet suffered breathing difficulties on Merdeka Day

KUALA LUMPUR: A founder member of veteran comedy troupe Senario, Mazlan Ahmad might have suffered a mild heart attack on Aug 31.

The 55-year-old Kedahan better known as Lan Pet Pet said in an interview with Berita Harian yesterday that on the night of National Day, he suffered from breathing difficulties at home, and was rushed to Melaka Hospital around 10pm.

"The doctors told me that I had blockages in my heart valves, and that I should keep a close watch on my health," said Mazlan who initially thought that his occasional chest pains in the past were the result of having late meals.

Mazlan also said that a year ago, he went for a check-up at a hospital in his hometown Alor Star, but the doctor told him that he did not have heart problems.

During his brief hospitalisation, Mazlan performed zikir and Tahajud prayers and before he knew it, the doctors told him that he could go home.

"I asked them if I could perform in the Merdeka concert as planned, and they gave me the green light to do so," he said.

At the concert, Mazlan was joined by his fellow Senario members and they shed tears of joy upon seeing him.

"We all thanked God that I could be with them for a joyous Merdeka," he said, adding that his fellow troupe members were like brothers to him.

Mazlan's hospitalisation was recently announced by another Senario member Saiful Azam Yusoff or Saiful Apek.

Saiful said that he was worried about Mazlan and wished his friend a speedy recovery.

Last Jan 5, another founder member of the group Hamdan Ramli, 55, died of a heart attack at Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Baru.
