KUALA LUMPUR: Celebrity chef Datuk Redzuawan Ismail a.k.a Chef Wan is not offended by certain quarters who are comparing him to food influencer and entrepreneur Khairulaming.
In an Instagram post yesterday, the 66-year-old shared a video by a TikTok user who came to his defence in refuting those who claimed that Khairulaming was the better personality in the local culinary world.
True to his style, Chef Wan wrote a long caption, explaining his take on it.
Rather than being offended, the garrulous personality laughed it off and joked that as someone who is already in his "retirement", he didn't have time nor energy to take it seriously.
"Some people have asked for my comment on this (issue). After 34 years of my TV career (hosting cooking shows) and doing my bit to contribute to the country, it doesn't even bother me if nobody can see or appreciate it.
"Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I respect that," he said.
While some suggested that he create his own TikTok account to stay relevant, he simply dismissed the idea saying that he neither had time nor an intention to hop on the bandwagon, as he already had his fifteen minutes of fame.
"Remember, we all have our moments in life," he said gracefully.
