#SHOWBIZ: Improve quality of acting before thinking of winning Oscars — Ogy

KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran actress Fauziah Ahmad Daud has urged actors and actresses who want to win the Oscars to improve their acting quality first.

Fauziah or Ogy said that there were still "a lot of acting techniques" to be learnt by the new crop of actors and actresses.

"It's not wrong if you want to think big but I've seen the works of new actors and actresses, and found that they still have a lot to learn.

"Many only speak their dialogues but do not go deep into their characters," she said.

Ogy was speaking at a press conference for her new play Di Sebalik Topeng at Dewan Bahasa Dan Pustaka (DBP) here yesterday.

Ogy said that she did not underestimate the potential of new actors and actresses but was merely advising them to raise their acting standards and be world class.

"Prove to movie fans that you can win an Oscar. Learn to improve the quality of your acting," she said.

Ogy's play will be staged on Oct 19 and 20 at DBP.

It is produced by Ogy Ventures & Network Sdn Bhd, presented by DBP and supported by the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry (MOTAC).
