KUALA LUMPUR: Actress and host Yasmin Hani, 45, recently shared that her children were the driving factor behind her reconnecting with actor Alif Hadi, 36, after their three-year relationship ended two months ago.
According to Yasmin, her two sons often ask about Alif and express a desire to spend time with him, which prompted her to rekindle their friendship.
However, Yasmin says she leaves any potential future for their relationship in God's hands.
"We became friends again because the children frequently talk about Alif," she told Berita Harian.
"For now, it's mainly for the children, who want to see Alif and spend time with him. As for the future, only God can decide.
"Maybe the children will be the reason we end up together again, but we're taking things slowly."
Yasmin, who was previously married to musician Sha'arin and separated in 2021, shares two sons with him – Noah Ismail Wong, 10, and Eissa Elzander Wong, 7.
Yasmin was met by the media after the second concert episode of Famili Duo Season 4 at Studio TV3 in Glenmarie, Shah Alam.
Alif, who joined Yasmin at the concert, expressed his commitment to remaining on good terms with her and her children, emphasising the importance of parting amicably.
"There's no reason to hold any resentment. I have known not only Yasmin but also her two sons, who mean a lot to me. There's no reason to cut ties," he said.
When asked whether their recent reunion was a publicity gimmick, both Yasmin and Alif dismissed the idea. "If people know us, they'll know we're not ones to create stunts for attention," Yasmin said.
"Even when we separated, we kept it private. This isn't about gaining sympathy or headlines."
Alif, who was named Popular Supporting Actor for Film at the recent ABPBH 36 awards, also denied using their relationship for publicity.
"If it were for sympathy, I would have done it before the ABPBH awards. That's not my approach," he said.
Previously, Alif's three-year relationship with Yasmin ended amicably, though he has not disclosed details of their breakup.
It was also reported that Alif had been married to a woman from a prominent family, while he was in his 20s, but the marriage only lasted for seven years.
