KUALA LUMPUR: South Korean actor Song Joong-ki and his British wife, Katy Louise Saunders, have welcomed their second child, a daughter, in Rome, Italy.
The 39-year-old actor shared the joyous news with fans via his official fan club on Nov 20, accompanied by a photo of the newborn's tiny hand holding an adult's finger, the Straits Times reported.
A strap on the baby's wrist displayed Saunders' name.
"Our lovely princess was born healthy. Both my wife and our baby are in good health and resting well.
"It's been only a little over a year since I met my first baby here, but I'm so thankful that I've met another beautiful baby," he wrote.
The couple, who also have a son born in June 2023, chose Rome, Saunders' hometown, for both births.
Song, currently filming the K-drama My Youth, plans to return to the set after helping Saunders with postpartum care.
"I am certain that such good things will continue to come to me because of the precious hearts of my fans.
"I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart," he added.
Song and Saunders, 40, began their relationship in 2022, confirming it publicly in December of that year.
They registered their marriage in January 2023 and announced Saunders' first pregnancy shortly after.
The actor's agency, HighZium Studio, revealed in July 2024 that Saunders was expecting their second child.
Previously, Song was married to South Korean actress Song Hye-kyo.
The couple, who starred in the 2016 hit series Descendants Of The Sun, tied the knot in 2017 but divorced in 2019.
