KUALA LUMPUR: Legendary British singer Elton John, 77, recently disclosed that he lost sight during an appearance at the London West End premiere of The Devil Wears Prada musical on Dec 1.
Despite his vision loss, John expressed his joy in being part of the event.
"As some of you may know, I have had issues and now I have lost my sight.
"I haven't been able to see the performance, but I have enjoyed it," he shared with the audience, as reported by the Daily Mail.
John revealed that a severe eye infection had left him unable to see out of his right eye, while his left eye's vision was deteriorating.
This condition has affected his ability to read, watch performances, or potentially record new music in the future.
The Rocket Man star, who wrote the score for the musical adaptation of The Devil Wears Prada, praised the production: "It's hard for me to see it, but I love to hear it, and it sounded good tonight."
During the event, John thanked his husband, David Furnish, for his unwavering support, calling him his "rock."
The iconic musician, known for timeless hits like Candle in the Wind, concluded his farewell tour in 2023 and has since prioritised family life.
