#SHOWBIZ: HK actor Chapman To praises wife's surgery scars after surviving cancer

KUALA LUMPUR: Former TVB star Kristal Tin, the wife of Hong Kong actor Chapman To, recently underwent surgery in Taiwan after being diagnosed with early-stage lung cancer.

Back then Tin, 47, said that her husband was distressed upon hearing the news and did online research, in addition to consulting with doctors in both Hong Kong and Taiwan, where they live.

On Monday, To made a heartfelt Facebook post for his wife, whom he married in 2005.

The 52-year-old said that he noticed pen markings left by the medical team to guide doctors in pinpointing the right areas during the operation.

"It reminded me of something we do on set while filming.

"For scenes where actors need to move, the crew will mark a 'T' on the ground with tape to indicate the actor's final position, so the shot stays sharp during filming.

"Once the scene is complete, the marks are removed – just like how I wiped off the marks on my wife's back, but the scars on her body may remain forever," he said.

To recalled Tin struggling to embrace her scars as she posed for photos during a recent island trip.

However, To assured his wife that those marks were beautiful as they symbolised luck and resilience.

"Now that her body is 100 per cent cancer-free, these scars are beautiful. They are the marks of hard work and luck. I'm proud of them! They cannot be erased.

"When people notice them, they will know that someone once gave an extraordinary performance at this spot.

"My wife will always be the leading lady, whether on stage or in life," he said.
