SINGER Shiha Zikir, 37, returns to the spotlight with 'Pelangi Kelabu', a poignant pop ballad that showcases her emotional depth and vocal prowess.
Released under Alternate Records, the single has quickly captured the hearts of listeners with its heartfelt melody and evocative lyrics.
Nurshiha Mohd Zikir, better known as Shiha, expressed her excitement about being part of the project.
"The first time I heard the demo, I was thrilled because the song's emotional depth fits perfectly with the themes of trending dramas today," she shared.
The recording process, completed in just three hours, was a seamless collaboration with producer John Jeeves.
"John made everything so smooth. His guidance and expertise brought the best out of me," Shiha added.
Despite the smooth production, Shiha admitted that delivering the song with the right emotional tone was a challenge.
"The hardest part was immersing myself fully in the song's mood. I had to imagine the pain to ensure my delivery felt honest and genuine," she explained.
She hopes 'Pelangi Kelabu' resonates deeply with listeners, particularly those navigating heartbreaks.
"We've all experienced disappointment and the struggle to move on. I hope this song becomes a comforting companion for those with wounded hearts."
The lyrics of 'Pelangi Kelabu' delve into the journey of healing after a soul-crushing break-up.
Using rain and water as metaphors, the song reflects on the transient nature of love and the emotional turbulence it can bring.
The "grey rainbow" symbolises fading hope and unfulfilled dreams, but it also carries a message of eventual recovery and the return of joy after sorrow.
In the chorus, the protagonist seeks solace under a cloudy sky, hiding tears and yearning for an unattainable love.
Yet, like the rain that passes and the rainbow that reappears, the song assures listeners that happiness can return after the storm.
Adding to its appeal, 'Pelangi Kelabu' serves as the official soundtrack for the drama 'Marina', which airs on the Tonton app and website from Monday to Thursday.
The song's emotional depth complements the series, enhancing its storytelling with music that lingers in the soul.
'Pelangi Kelabu' was created by the talented trio John Jeeves, Iqie Hugh and Omar K. The team drew inspiration from the bittersweet nature of sadness, likening it to a rainbow that turns grey under the weight of despair.
John praised Shiha's ability to embody the song's complex emotions.
"Shiha came to the studio prepared and full of brilliant ideas. Her delivery was captivating and genuine," he said.
"This song showcases a new side of Shiha, and we're thrilled to share it with the world."
The producers hope the song not only touches listeners but also achieves great success in the music industry.
"With its soulful lyrics, memorable melody, and Shiha's incredible interpretation, 'Pelangi Kelabu' is a must-listen," John added.
