KUALA LUMPUR: Local rock legend Datuk Awie is excited to welcome his seventh child, a baby boy, who's due by C-section on July 7.
"I have chosen a name for my seventh child. I chose the name Arjuna for him.
"It's exciting to wait for the birth of this baby. I think it's a blessing from God," said the 56-year-old singer in a Harian Metro report today.
Awie, whose real name is Ahmad Azhar Othman, added that he would be in Kelantan a few days before his wife, Sharifah Ladyana, gives birth.
"Following my schedule, I'd be in Kelantan at the time for work, so I will have to return to the capital that night itself before my wife goes into the operating room.
"This is part of my sacrifice as an artiste. This is one of the reasons why I feel guilty with my wife and children. But this is the pain of life that I go through for them.
"May everyone out there pray that everything is made easy and smooth sailing," he said.
Through his first marriage with his former wife and singer, Arni Nazira, Awie has two daughters, Putri Aleeya Antasha, 24, and Putri Aleefa Antasha, 22.
The Wings vocalist's second marriage was to Rozana Misbun on June 20, 2005, but they divorced on Nov 1, 2014.
They have three children, Putra Ahmad Merrah, 17, Putra Ahmad Rezzki, 16, and Puteri Qasseh Antasha, 14.
Awie's third marriage was to Sharifah Ladyana on Oct 7, 2016.
She gave birth to their son, Putra Ahmad Andeeka, in 2020.
