KUALA LUMPUR: Director and comedian Datuk Afdlin Shauki has clapped back at certain individuals who pointed fingers at comedians for taking "stuff" merely because of some recent incidents where comedians were arrested for alleged drug possession.
In an interview with Harian Metro yesterday Afdlin said that people arrested for drug abuse or possession came from "all segments of society", but artistes were often targeted due to their popularity.
"Once upon a time, singers were often associated with drug abuse. Now it appears to be the comedians' turn," he said.
"But when it involves religious scholars, people do not point fingers at them, because they are meant to be pious people."
Afdlin said that every individual was different, and the public should always get a clear picture of what actually happened before pointing fingers at the artiste.
"Every individual is different, so pray for the best so that they can correct themselves.
"Some might have been set up, others might be guilty," said Afdlin.
