KUALA LUMPUR: Sarawakian singer Dayang Nurfaizah will share the stage with the Seri Puteri Symphonic Winds Orchestra (SPWinds) in a charity concert, SPWinds Fantastika Fundraising Matinee Concert And High Tea soon.

The concert organised by Sekolah Seri Puteri (SSP) will be held at the Multimedia University (MMU), Cyberjaya on Jan 12.

It aims to raise funds for SPWinds' participation in the 11th World Orchestra Festival which will take place in Vienna, Austria from July 10 to 13.

In an interview with Berita Harian yesterday, Dayang said that she was honoured to work with the talented students and help them achieve their dreams of performing in Austria.

"Besides being a charity programme involving students, I decided to work with them because we need fresh talents in Malaysian music, who will take the music industry to higher heights in future," said Dayang.

"I hope this collaboration will inspire all musicians and music lovers. I am lucky and grateful to be working with a group of young people who are very talented and educated."

Dayang will perform four songs while accompanied by musicians from the orchestra.

The SPWinds Parent Support Group (KSIB) under the Parents and Teachers Association (PIBG) of Sekolah Seri Puteri is planning to raise RM1 million funds.

This will cover the cost of travel, accommodation, logistics for musical instruments as well as the replacement of essential equipment for orchestra performances and rehearsals.

The 11th World Orchestra Festival is organised by the Austrian Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture and the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts, and brings together elite orchestras from around the world.
