KUALA LUMPUR: Award-winning singer Dayang Nurfaizah said that she had "full confidence" in her fellow Kuching-born talent Hafiz Suip making a triumphant comeback to the music scene, and wished him good health and happiness always.
Describing the Akademi Fantasia 7 champion as her "adik" (younger brother) who always made her happy, Dayang, 43, said that even though Hafiz might have had a rough patch in his life of late, he was strong, resilient and professional at all times.
"I met him in Kuching not too long ago, and he was in great spirits. In fact we've been performing in various showcases in our 'kampung' and fans love him for his friendliness and humility," said Dayang at a listening session for her newest album Janji at Universal Music Malaysia in Jalan Professor Khoo Kay Kim, Petaling Jaya yesterday.
Dayang added that she was delighted to see Hafiz, 34, return to Anugerah Juara Lagu 39 (AJL39) with his latest single Terus Bersinar.
"In life, all of us have our ups and downs, likewise Hafiz. On my part I've also had my 'down' times, as we are all human.
"What is important is, we pull ourselves up again and do our best in life and career. I'm 100 per cent confident my dearest friend will triumph," said Dayang.
Hafiz recently issued an apology following the release of a video showing him in a heated altercation with an individual in Kuching, Sarawak.
He said that he had since met with the individual involved and they had reconciled.
In the video, Hafiz was seen shaking hands with the man and even kissing his hand.
Composer Ajai recently said that he had persuaded Hafiz to return to singing after a three-year hiatus, believed to be the result of family problems.
Ajai said that his door was "always open" to Hafiz and believed that he still loved music and would return to the recording studio soon.
He described Hafiz as a committed, dedicated and hard-working singer whom he enjoyed working with.
Hafiz eventually returned to the big stage on Aug 3 when he appeared in Konsert Ajai & Mega Friends at Mega Star Arena, Sungei Wang Plaza, Jalan Sultan Ismail.
Dayang was also one of the guest singers at the two-hour concert.
