THE latest Great Eastern Live Great Run has attracted 15,000 participants, a sign that Malaysians are getting serious in their quest to lead healthy lifestyle. The event was held last November at Bukit Jalil National Stadium.
Since its inception in 2012, the number of participants has been growing each year from 5,000 to the current number. The event was introduced to promote having a healthy lifestyle amongst Malaysians.
The signature 12km run was won by Prabudass Krishnan in 37 minutes and 48 seconds while Chooi Fern Loh completed the run in 46 minutes and 49 seconds. Both of them won RM1,000 in the men’s and women’s open category respectively.
Designed to encourage casual runners and families to take up running, the 5km triple fun run is the favourite as runners came in various styles including bubbles and foam in the bubble zone; drizzled with coloured hues in the colour zone; and soaked in water gun washdowns in the water zone. Both the 12km and 5km runners were awarded with finisher medals upon completion of the run.
The Great Eastern Live Great Run is an initiative of the Live Great programme, an integrated health and wellness programme by the company. The programme comprises five key components including exclusive privileges, health tips, wellness tools, workshops and events with the ultimate aim of inspiring Malaysians to turn their aspirations into actions for a better and healthier life.
