Malaysia may be one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, but there are still many hidden gems across the country for travellers to discover.
To help Malaysians uncover these gems, travel booking company Traveloka recently unveiled an extensive and interactive website called Unseen Malaysia, which features some the country's best-kept travel secrets.
Unseen Malaysia features a colourful and informative infographic that highlights 38 bucket-list-worthy destinations, including Gua Kelam in Perlis, Menara Taming Sari in Melaka, Gunung Irau in Pahang and Pulau Payar in Kedah.

However, people who explore the Unseen Malaysia website will get to discover a total of 144 travel destinations, some of which may be unheard of by most Malaysians.
Various essential information is available on the website, including brief descriptions of the respective destinations, their attractions, the top-rated hotels and resorts, the best food in the area as well fun-filled activities to take part in.
Some of these destinations, including the famous Sasaran Beach or Sky Mirror in Kuala Selangor, are less than two hours away from Kuala Lumpur.
Here are several lesser known, but no less amazing locations that Malaysians can consider for a quick weekend getaway.
1. Pantai Kerachut, Penang
Located on the northeast of Penang Island along the Muka Head Cape, Pantai Kerachut is one of the six beaches located at the Penang National Park. A relatively unknown place, the beach is pristine and offers an unobstructed view of the sea. Travellers who wish to explore the lush greenery of Penang National Park can opt to camp at the designated campsite near the beach.
2. Gua Kelam, Perlis
One of the most distinctive caves in Malaysia with a 370-metre long limestone cave near the small town of Kaki Bukit (literally 'foothill') and known as the Cave of Darkness. Gua Kelam Recreational Park is popular for its enchanting 'cave walk' where you can enter from one end of the cave and come out at a different location.
3. Kanching Rainforest Waterfalls, Kuala Lumpur
Also known as Kanching Recreational Forest, it is located in a forest reserve of nearly 500 hectares in the Rawang district, just north of Kuala Lumpur. This is the perfect place for picnics, camping and jungle trekking. The highlight of this spot is the 120m stunning waterfall that cascade over seven levels.
