KUALA LUMPUR: McLaren Kuala Lumpur is proud to announce that its limited edition two-seater roadster Elva has now officially debuted locally.
This is big news for the company and fans alike as there are only 149 units of the Elva available globally for order.
"We would like to thank our principal, McLaren Automotive, for making the Elva available to us. This is a testament to the importance that McLaren Automotive places on the Malaysian market and that of the owners and fans here in the country.
"It was a challenge to get the car here, in the end it was well worth the time and expense. A real treat for all car enthusiasts," said McLaren Kuala Lumpur chief operating officer Ravinder Singh.
Deemed the lightest car McLaren has ever made, the roofless Elva's body is made entirely of carbon-fiber and weighs an estimated 1300kg.
Malaysia is getting the windscreen variant first announced last year which does away with the Active Air Mangement System (AAMS) as it is rendered irrelevant.
The original that was first announced in 2019 was windshieldless and weighed an estimated 20kg less.
McLaren assures there is little change in performance however as its twin-turbocharged V8 engine paired with a 7 speed, Reverse Seamless Shift Gearbox (SSG) still gives the roadster a max 8,500rpm, 815PS at 7,500rpm, and 800Nm at 5,500rpm.
It has a maximum speed of 326kph and can go from 0-100kph in 2.8 seconds - 0-200kph in 6.8 seconds.
The Elva is part of McLaren's Ultimate Series which includes the P1, Senna and Speedtail.
"The McLaren Elva is a stunning example of both McLaren's history in sports car racing as well as boundaries pushing design principles," said McLaren Automotive Asia Pacific and China managing director Paul Harris.
The Elva has an estimated price of RM8.1 million (£1.4 million) before additional add ons.
