Modenas Karisma 125 gets 2022 update

KUALA LUMPUR: Motosikal dan Enjin Nasional Sdn Bhd (Modenas) has given its all-time popular entry-level scooter, the Karisma 125, a 2022 update.

The new Karisma 125S gets a 124.8cc, fuel-injection, 4 stroke single-cylinder engine that produces a maximum power of 7.0 kW @ 7500 rpm and torque of 10.0 Nm @ 6000 rpm.

Fuel-efficiency is one of the scooter's main draw - with an engine that meets the latest Euro 4 and Energy Efficient Vehicles (EEV) standards combined with a large 5.1-litre fuel tank.

Modenas chief executive officer Roslan Roskan says the launch of the Karisma 125S was to take opportunity of the rise in market demand for scooter type motorcycles, as well as to help expand the scooter market segment in Malaysia.

"I truly believe it will be love-at-first sight for our customers given its price tag, new modern design, and latest technology", he added.

The front portion of the scooter now has a pair of full LED headlights with daytime running lights (DRL) technology.

Upgrades have also been made to both front and rear signal now a full LED type, a modern meter gauge with digital fuel level, and a brand-new key system that comes with a seat opener button.

Other features include a 14-litre under-seat compartment with an additional front twin pockets, a USB charging socket mounted on the dashboard allowing its rider to charge their smartphones while on-the-go.

Available as of now at dealerships in three colour schemes (Aqua Blue, Duchess Gold and Mystic Red) the 2022 Modenas Karisma 125S priced is at RM5,397 (insurance and road tax cost excluded).

The first generation of the Karisma 125 was launched in August 2003. A facelift model was introduced in 2016.
