DUROMAC Group has added the electric road sweeper — Malaysia's first — to its lineup of utility vehicles.
The Bucher CityCat VS20e was designed around Malaysian municipalities, green technology and cleaning contractors.
It aims to revolutionise street cleaning through its selection of combustion engines from the specially-designed Bucher Battery Pack, sweepers and all-new Smart-Con Operating concept in the cabin.
"We are honoured to be given this collaborative opportunity to introduce the first all-electric compact sweeper in Malaysia," said Duromac Group chief executive officer Dhinaraj Das.
The second-generation vehicle utilises a customised battery pack with the capacity to last at least seven hours.
It is classified as having low environmental impact with a low-noise hydraulic unit that significantly reduces noise emissions.
This allows it to be used round the clock and given its size, it is also capable of operating in small and confined spaces.
Its 22kW on-board charger recharges batteries in around two to 150 minutes at any public charging station. Its range can be extended with its high-voltage battery recuperation function.
For additional sustainability, the fully electric machine has low water usage thanks to its water recirculation system that reuses service water that is fed to the suction intake via a water tank.
Duromac has since introduced the vehicle to different parties, municipalities and selected companies by exhibiting its floating suction intake through a patented mounting mechanism — with the purpose of maximum air velocity for optimum sweeping results.
A more efficient, energy-optimised fan is said to be no longer troubled by debris because of its placement.
It was on a road tour all around Malaysia from March to May. It started with a product demonstration at Duromac's headquarters in Puchong, with attendees from municipalities in the Klang Valley and Selangor, and followed by Duromac's offices in Johor and Penang.
