SERDANG: Great Wall Motor's (GWM) Tank 300 is estimated to be priced around RM 250,000 with deliveries taking place as early as July this year.
The completely built-up (CBU) off-road capable sports utility vehicle (SUV) has been teased numerous times early this year and has since gained quite the attention for its rugged looks and potentially appealing price.
It is powered by a 2.0L Turbo 4-cylinder petrol engine that's paired to a ZF 8-Speed Automatic Transmission (8AT) to deliver 220 PS and 380 Nm of torque.
With off-roading a huge part of the Tank 300's image it is expected of it to perform under tough conditions. To address this the model features the likes of an all-terrain control system with 9 driving modes, crawl control mode, and tank turn which is said to allow drivers to manoeuvre across difficult territories.
The SUV also runs on a dual-speed electronically-controlled part-time four-wheel drive (4WD) which can alternate between two-wheel drive (2WD) and 4WD mode.
Other off-road centric qualities is its ultra-high-strength vehicle body that weighs at 1500 MPa, being able to drive on a 23.1-degree angle ramp, a maximum gradability of 70 pct and has a maximum wading depth of 700 mm.
In the cabin are Nappa leather covered seats, an 8-way adjustable driver seat, nine Infinity loudspeakers and an ultra quiet NVH that is achieved with a double-layer soundproof acoustic glass.
Its 12.3-inch full colour infotainment screen with anti-dazzle and anti-reflection features supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay,
The Tank 300 achieves a 5-star ANCAP safety rating through features such as: Type Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), 360 degree all-around view monitor with Transparent Chassis Function, Automatic Collision Unlocking and Automatic Collision Fuel Cutoff functions.
Its advance Level 2 (L2) Driving Assistance suite includes Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Highway Assist.
"Safety has been a vital element in GWM's design language. Even for off-road SUVs that cater to a group of thrill-seeking adventurers, we still ensure they can smoothly operate their vehicles in a leisurely manner," said GWM Malaysia managing director Mike Cui Anq.
The first 300 GWM Tank 300 bookings will receive a special package from GWM, including a 5 Year or 100,000 km free service package inclusive of part and labour (whichever comes first), a lifetime powertrain warranty with unlimited mileage (solely for the first owner), and a mystery gift that will be revealed at the official launch.
"Warranties and gifts are more than just showing appreciation to our loyal customers. They are part of our promise to deliver a satisfactory post-sales service that can ease our customers' worries," Mike added.
The GWM Tank 300 has maintained its position as the No. 1 SUV brand in China for 39 consecutive months.
Additionally, the mid-size hybrid SUV Haval H6 HEV is now also open for booking and is expected to be launched in Q3 2024.
