SERDANG: As part of the company's long term commitment to the local market Neta Auto is determined to beat the competition through pricing.
To achieve this the company aims to offer its electric vehicles (EVs), most likely with the Neta V model, at around RM75,000.
The government currently imposes a RM100,000 minimum price cap on imported or completely build up (CBU) EVs. The only way for automakers to circumvent this is by local assembly or completely knocked down (CKD).
Datuk SM Azli who is executive director of Intro Synergy Sdn Bhd, the distributor of Neta in Malaysia, said he was excited about the brand's future in Malaysia.
"We aim to reach 10,000 sales by 2025. The CKD plant in Chembong is scheduled to start production in Q1 2025 and will allow us to offer locally assembled Neta models. This would ensure quicker delivery and competitive pricing."
Neta Auto's representative Zhou Jiang emphasized that the company was commited to deliver advanced and accessible smart electric vehicles to the Malaysian market.
He further highlighted Neta's achievements over the past three years, which included leading sales among new car-making forces in China and rapid global expansion - with a particular focus on the Malaysian market.
"Malaysia is one of our three core global markets. We plan to introduce four main products with a total sales target of 34,000 units in the next three years.
"Our factory in Malaysia is set to start production in Q1 2025 and we aim to open 50 sales outlets. This would result in creating approximately 3,000 jobs," Zhou added.
The announcement was made during the unvieling of the Neta X model at the Malaysian Autoshow 2024 held at MAEPS, Serdang.
The Neta X is available in three variants: 400 Comfort, 400 Luxury, and 500 Luxury. They've been revealed to be priced between RM119,900 and RM139,900.
Early birds who place their bookings during the Malaysia Autoshow 2024 from May 22-26 will enjoy exclusive benefits which include: double booking value, a Neta merchandise gift bag, and the option of a complimentary wall box or one year of free charging at any ChargEV station.
Customers who book the Neta V will also benefit from a lifetime warranty on the battery, motor, and MCU, with rewards up to RM24,300 through the Neta loyalty program, and one year of free charging at any ChargEV station.
Both the Neta X and Neta V are on display at the autoshow alongside the company's electric sports car Neta GT and sporty tech sedan Neta S.
