KUALA LUMPUR: AMMB Holdings Bhd (Ambank Group) has partnered with PeGeBak Pte Ltd and Payments Network Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PayNet) to offer a smart parking system that uses DASH's licence plate recognition (LPR) and DuitNow QR in underserved areas.
This is in line with PayNet's commitment to promote e-payment solutions in areas outside Klang Valley.
The service to new regions promises to ease the parking payment experience for users, merchants and parking companies alike.
AmBank managing director for business banking Christopher Yap said the integration of the LPR system with the DuitNow QR sets a new standard in the advancement of parking payments.
"Leveraging cutting-edge technology and innovation, this partnership creates a win-win situation.
"Users will benefit from a smoother payment experience, while operators can enjoy improved operational cost and efficiency," he said in a statement.
DASH chief technology officer and co-founder Sam Zulkifli said the collaboration paves the way for future partnerships, allowing us to deliver even better solutions for our users.
"We are excited about the transformative impact on underserved areas, making advanced and seamless parking solutions accessible to more communities," he noted.
PayNet chief marketing officer Gary Yeoh said parking experiences can be daunting when one needs to look for change or a payment machine.
He added that with DuitNow QR, the parking experience becomes even more pleasant and seamless.
"We look forward to finding new ways to bring more people to the digital payments age," he said.
The LPR technology is an advanced system that simplifies the parking experience for users.
Upon entry to the car park, the LPR system captures the vehicle's plate number, allowing users to go about their day without worrying about lost tickets.
To exit, users can make seamless payments via the DuitNow QR thus completing the cashless transaction.
This will benefit merchants and parking companies by optimising efficiency which indirectly reducesoperational costs with the use of DuitNow QR, enhancing customer satisfaction from smoother entry/exit and contactless payments within seconds.
As of May 15 this year, DASH's LPR system has already been implemented in various locations including Sandakan Airport, Pasar Suntex, MRT TTDI, LRT Kelana Jaya, LRT Sentul Timur and several other train stations.
DASH is powered by AmBank DuitNow QR utilising the PeGePay multi-modal QR payment rapid application deployment platform, which offers a unified and efficient payment solution for users and merchants.
