Leapmotor brand makes debut in Malaysia, launches maiden C10 model

KUALA LUMPUR: Stellantis Malaysia has introduced its new electric vehicle (EV) brand, Leapmotor, alongside its first global product, the electric Leapmotor C10 SUV.

The all-new electric C10 is being offered at a limited-time introductory price of RM149,000 (on the road, excluding insurance).

It is available for bookings made before Nov 30. After the period, the price will increase to RM159,000.

The Leapmotor C10 comes in four exterior colours - Glazed Green, Pearly White, Canopy Grey, and Tundra Grey - and offers two interior colour options: Criollo Brown (exclusively for Glazed Green) and Midnight Aurora.

Stellantis Malaysia managing director Jamie Francis Morais said the launch marks an exciting milestone for the company, and enables it to be a disrupting force within the local EV segment by offering an outstanding battery-powered electric vehicle (BEV) sports utility vehicle.

"Packed with many world's first features and technologies in its segment, the C10 is the hallmark product that will showcase its finest innovations first-time to all Malaysians.

"It is also an accessible and innovative EV option in the competitive market that we are confident will meet and align with the needs of discerning Malaysian consumers," he said.

The launch was officiated by Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.

"The collaboration between Stellantis and Leapmotor goes beyond the launch of a new EV; it supports our industrial reform goals of innovation, sustainability, and competitiveness in the automotive sector under both the National Automotive Policy and New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP).

"Stellantis' decision to introduce Leapmotor C10 into the Malaysian market also enhances our capabilities and standing regionally, while also strengthening our position within the global automotive industry," Tengku Zafrul said.

Stellantis said Leapmotor C10 includes a warranty of six years or 150,000km, along with a battery warranty of eight years or 160,000km, whichever is reached first.

The service intervals are set at one year or 20,000km, depending on which comes first.

"Stellantis Malaysia will spearhead the sales, distribution, and after-sales services for the all-new electric Leapmotor C10 locally starting with 18 point-of-sales locations this year with plans to add on nine more in 2025.

"There will also be 16 authorised service centres by 2025, with six of these locations already scheduled to be operational by the fourth quarter of 2024," it added.
