KUALA LUMPUR: Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM) has launched the all-new Nissan Kicks e-Power, a compact sports utility vehicle (SUV).
It is priced at RM113,800 for the e-Power VL variant, excluding insurance. The e-Power VLT variant is priced at RM121,800 and RM125,800 for the VLT (dual tone).
The Kicks e-Power is available in six colour options: Brilliant White Pearl, Sunrise Orange, Red Pearl, Brilliant Silver and Black Star.
The VLT variant, in addition to the standard colours, comes with a dual-tone roof in Super Black and an additional body colour option, Dark Metal Grey.
As part of Nissan's long-term strategy, the Kicks is the first e-Power model to be introduced in Malaysia.
The stylish SUV combines sustainable innovation with dynamic performance to deliver a "fun-to-drive" experience.
Asako Hoshino, chief brand officer and chair of MC Japan-Asean at Nissan Motor, said electric mobility is a core area of innovation for the company, and the launch marks another significant milestone in its electrification journey in Malaysia.
"As part of Nissan's global business plan, we are expanding our electric vehicle (EV) and e-Power lineup.
"The Nissan Kicks e-Power is just the beginning of electric mobility in Malaysia,"
said Hoshino at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show 2024 (KLIMS). here today.
"With over 60 years of presence in the country, we are deeply grateful to ETCM for their continued collaboration, and we are excited about the future plans ahead," she added.
Hoshino also announced that Nissan plans to introduce three to five new vehicle models in Malaysia over the next three years.
Christopher Tan, executive vice president of ETCM, said the Kicks e-Power marks a key step in making electric vehicles more accessible to Malaysians and bringing the country closer to full electric mobility.
"This SUV offers an EV-like experience without compromising on fuel efficiency or performance.
"Now, Malaysians can enjoy this pioneering technology, which has already produced more than 1.5 million e-Power vehicles worldwide," Tan said.
The vehicle's engine is combined with a generator and inverter that charges the battery while providing power directly to the vehicle, creating an enhanced driving experience.
ETCM said the Kicks e-Power offers an impressive fuel efficiency of 21.7 kilometres per litre (km/l), with an estimated range of up to 900km on a full tank, making it an excellent eco-friendly choice.
Additionally, the e-Power system reduces exhaust emissions by 20 per cent compared to internal combustion engine ehicles, supporting more sustainable driving.
The front-mounted electric motor produces 95 kilowatts (kW), or 129 PS, with a torque of 280 Nm, powered by a 2.06-kilowatt-hour (kWh) lithium-ion battery located under the front seats.
The Kicks e-Power offers four driving modes - Eco, Sport, Standard and EV - which provide a tailored driving experience and enhance the dynamic performance of this stylish compact SUV.
The SUV is also equipped with a range of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including intelligent driver alertness, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, intelligent cruise control, intelligent forward collision warning, intelligent emergency braking, around view monitor with moving object detection and electronic parking brake with auto hold.
Seven airbags and an enhanced body structure further complement its safety features.
The compact SUV is also the first in its class to feature an innovative intelligent rear view mirror with a two-megapixel camera for high-resolution display.
This improves visibility, especially at night, offering clearer images without distortion and enhanced dynamic range.
With compact dimensions of 4,290 millimetres (mm) in length, 1,760 mm in width, and 1,605 mm in height, the Kicks e-Power offers a wheelbase of 2,620 mm and a boot space of 423 litres.
Its ground clearance is 170 mm, and it has a minimum turning radius of 5.1 metres, making it easy to manoeuvre in tight spaces.
The new Kicks e-Power will go on sale from January 2025.
