MARANG: Noordin Wahab, one of the ten Malaysians injured in the Mecca crane crash, is ever more determined to complete his haj pilgrimage.
His son, Arif Rashdan, 18, said that his father had conveyed the message to his family shortly after the tragedy at the Grand Mosque on Friday.
"We were all relieved to learn that he was safe and sound. He is in stable health and is now ever more determined to complete his pilgrimage with my mother Munah Mamat," said Arif Rashdan.
Noordin, 59 was slightly hurt on the forehead and sought outpatient treatment, while Munah, 56, escaped without any injuries.
"Hearing my father's voice was very comforting. He told us not to worry and that everything was going on as planned. He asked us to relay the message to our relatives and his friends. He asked us to pray for the smooth completion of their pilgrimage and obtain Islam's fifth sacrament," said Arif Rashdan, who spoke with his father at 11am on Saturday.
Arif Rashdan added that his father assured them that the Saudi authorities were doing everything possible to get the situation return to normalcy and were very helpful to the victims.
"Eversince the tragedy, my family members have been deluged with calls from concerned relatives and friends on my parents' situation. Thank the Almighty that they are safe. We are very grateful to God for sparing their lives and we know that our parents are weathering the test by the Almighty," he said.
He added that he and his six siblings were very apprehensive when news of the tragedy broke out and thanked Tabung Haji for relaying updates to his family speedily.
Noordin is one of two pilgrims from Terengganu who were hurt in the accident.
The other is Faridah Mansor, 63, from Dungun who sustained a broken wrist. She has been warded at the An Noor Hospital.
