Crane tower collapses in Setapak, no injuries reported

KUALA LUMPUR: A crane tower collapsed at a construction site near PPR Sungai Bonus in Kampung Air Tawar, Setapak, here this evening.

No one was injured in the 6.18pm, which is believed to have been caused by heavy rain and strong winds.

Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department acting director Rozihan Anwar Mamat said the department received a distress call at 6.19pm, and a team of five firemen from Setapak station rushed to the scene.

"The team, led by Operations Commander PBK II Rozaidi Mat Isa, upon arrival at the location, confirmed that a crane tower had collapsed at a construction site due to strong winds.

"After conducting a thorough inspection of the area, it was confirmed that there were no casualties," he said in a statement.

The matter was handed over to the construction management team for further action, he said.
