KUALA LUMPUR: Syarikat Prasarana Negara Bhd's application to change its name to Prasarana Malaysia Bhd has been approved by the MalaysianCompanies Commission.
Its acronym remains unchanged as "Prasarana".
In a statement today, Group managing director Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar said the company was moving with the times and changes.
The old name of Syarikat Prasarana Negara he added, was now unsuitable, especially since the company began making strides towards becoming an international player.
"Prasarana Malaysia not only carries an immediate association with Malaysia, but also reflects a more dynamic and bold image.
"We need to take into account that this organisation was established way back in 1998. Even, its roles and aspirations have changed with time," Shahril said.
Established by the Finance Ministry in 1998, Prasarana, which officiallybegan operations in 2002, was set up to facilitate, undertake and expedite public infrastructure transport projects.-- Bernama
