The Indonesian artiste marks two decades in showbiz with a concert in Kuala Lumpur, writes Dennis Chua
INDONESIAN music legend Krisdayanti entertains in Krisdayanti Live In KL 2014 at the Plenary Hall, KL Convention Centre, Jalan Pinang, Kuala Lumpur tomorrow.
The concert is presented by One Drop Perfumes and marks 20 years of her musical career.
With 25 albums to her name including Cinta (1996), Kasih (1997), Menuju Terang (2002), Cahaya (2004) and Krisdayanti (2007), Krisdayanti is known for the hit songs Menghitung Hari,Cobalah Untuk Setia, Abad 21 and Can’t Remember A Time.
Born on March 24, 1975, she first began singing at 9 for the movie Megaloman.
Three years later, she released her first album, Burung-Burung Malam, together with the soundtrack album for Catatan Si Emon.
While still in high school, she participated in numerous singing and modelling competitions.
In 1991, she was a finalist in the Gadis Sampul competition.
With the help of Younky Soewarno and Chris Pattikawa, she took part in the 1992 Asia Bagus star search programme, eventually winning the grand prize.
Her victory in Asia Bagus led to her recording an album in Singapore.
She also won several awards, such as Best Indonesian Album in Malaysia in 1999, and MTV’s Most Wanted Female Artiste and Most Wanted Indonesian Video.
Her hit songs and constant concert performances have made her renowned throughout the region as Indonesia’s foremost singing ambassador.
In 1996 she was honoured by Tabloid Bintang as one of Indonesia’s six most prominent female television stars, and in 2007, Globe Asia ranked her 31st in its list of the 99 most influential women in Indonesia.
She has also acted in TV dramas such as Istana Impian (1996), Abad 21 (1997) and Mencintaimu (2001), and films such as Jatuh Cinta Lagi (2006).
She collaborated with Malaysia’s number one singer Datuk Siti Nurhaliza in the album, CTKD.
The twice-married singer is a mother of three children.
