Guan Eng sued over Balik Pulau land acquisition issue

KUALA LUMPUR: Two Penang Umno division chiefs and their property firm are suing Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng and four others over three online articles linked to the Balik Pulau land acquisition issue.

Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir and Datuk Omar Faudzar - who are Umno Bukit Mertajam and Bukit Gelugor chiefs - and Maison Heights Sdn Bhd filed the suit against Lim, two online news portal operators, and their editors on Jan 30.

The news portal operators are TMI Dot Com Sdn Bhd and Mkini Dotcom Sdn Bhd - which operates The Malaysian Insider(TMI) and Malaysiakini online news portals respectively.

The two editors are Jahabar Sadiq and Steven Gan, who are also TMI chief executive officer and Malaysiakini co-founder respectively.

The suit was filed over the articles - two by TMI and one by Malaysiakini - published online on Nov 27 and 28 last year.

The matter came up for case management before High Court deputy registrar K. Pavani today. She fixed April 2 and 28 for further case management.
