IPOH: Five thousand teachers from 2,500 schools in the country have been trained to use the internet education system, ‘Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) Frog’ as a teaching and learning platform (PdP).
Education director general Datuk Seri Dr Khair Mohamad Yusof said the VLE Frog is an education ministry technology-based project, ‘1Bestarinet’, under the Malaysia Education Development Plan 2013-2015.
“The training is focused on young teachers below 40 years old. The ministry has selected them because of their ability to readily grasp and apply the PdP in their work,” he said.
He said this at the launch of the ‘1Malaysia Young Teachers In VLE Frog As a PdP Programme’, here today.
“I wish to stress that the VLE is part of the PdP. It cannot be regarded as a separate programme.
“The VLE is only a tool in the PdP. It is suitable as it allows the students to enjoy their lessons, retrieve information quickly, and draws the students’ interest in their studies,” he said.
Khair said the system could also facilitate the teachers’ teaching aid preparations.
“Hopefully, this programme would get the full commitment of the teachers,” he said, adding that the VLE Frog should be accessible to all teachers in Malaysia to achieve the country’s national education aspirations. - BERNAMA
