KUALA LUMPUR: Seven global Indian companies with a presence in the country have committed to train and hire at least 5,000 Malaysians, the Digital Ministry said today.
In a statement, the ministry said this commitment follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation and the National Association of Software and Service Companies (Nasscom) in New Delhi, India on Aug 21.
Nasscom is a trade and advocacy group serving the Indian technology industry

The training and hiring scheme will take place over three years.
It will involve Malaysians being trained in generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI), cyber security, software development and Next Gen technologies.
The ministry said more companies are currently in discussion to take part in the initiative.
Digital Minister, Gobind Singh Deo who witnessed the exchange of the MoU welcomed the initiative.
"As the Madani government continues to build world-class infrastructure and create digital trust to attract investors, a crucial component to accelerate outcomes is talent," said Gobind.
He said talent is vital in a rapidly evolving digital world.
"It starts with educating youths while reskilling and upskilling those who are already in the workforce.
"This is to ensure no one is left behind in our endeavour to create a digital nation," he added. \
